Brian Dillons City Division Junior A Hurling Champions 2019   26/08/2019

Fantastic day for the club today as we were crowned Seandún Junior Hurling Champions after a 0-21 to 0-12 victory over a skillful,

athletic and gallant Whitechurch side in a sun drenched Ballinlough in front of a large attendance.

Terrific performances from all the players ensured the victory after several near misses in recent years.

The goalkeeper and defensive unit gave a most assured and disciplined display to limit the scoring opportunities for a very dangerous Whitechurch forward line.

Our midfield worked tirelessly allowing us to gain the upper hand in this area of the field and provided the perfect platform for our forwards to show their abilities.

Some brilliant movement and intelligent use of the sliotar lead to stylish scores from a wide spread of players.

On a day when there were many outstanding displays it was Cian McCarthy with a tally of 5 points who was awarded the Man of the Match.

Inspirational captain Darragh Rodgers lifted the trophy to a huge cheer from the Dillons supporters.

Both clubs now progress to the County Championship series where further challenges and hard work await but for now we'll enjoy today's victory.

A brilliant day was further enhanced by the sight of over 20 U8 players from both clubs who played 2 short exhibition games at half time.

Very heartening to see these lads togged out in the famous blue and white on such a big day for the club.

Hopefully we'll see these lads lining out for the club in even bigger championship games in years to come.

Huge congratulations to the management and players.

Up the Blues!
